30 Day Shred, Day 2

Sometimes I just think that if I work really really hard, that God will bless my efforts...right? That's the way it works, right? Well, it seems like the devil sure ain't likin' that much, because just when I think, "hey, yeah, I can do this..." all HELL comes breaking loose.

Tonight I ate my access bar at 6:45pm...got the kids settled with some TV for 15 minutes, telling them I was going to work out soon - nursed the baby, she's sound asleep, put her down and RIGHT AT 7pm ON THE NOSE, when I turn on the DVD, she wakes up crying...and it's now 8:28pm and she's STILL CRYING.

Micah insisted on "shredding" with me, as did Shira, so I had to keep yelling for them to move lest I step on them. Tobin played his standard oblivious card and ignored my 4 requests to put the dogs away so I didn't have to deal with THEM in the mix too. So by the time I was done with my 20 minutes, my heart rate was definitely up - in more ways than one.

I am sore today, but not unmanagable...there were days after my workouts at the gym that I felt like dying, this is just a low level sore, so maybe that ProFlex really worked! I am feeling pretty confident that my endurance level is coming back pretty quickly after a month off of workouts at the gym - and I can't wait to see how much easier it gets by Day 10.

Oh, and official measurements yet to come, but starting weight...(please don't judge me...) 152.8. YIKES!

30 Day Shred, Day 1

Tried to take "before" pictures...Shira had a rough time with the big old honking camera. I'm hoping it was her angle that made it look like the camera is adding WAY.TOO.MANY.POUNDS. I will post the official numbers tomorrow...after I've had a hubby to help with that!

Rules: Reading "Master Your Metabolism" and am convicted to go as organic as the budget will allow. Adding one whole grain per day. Eating a light dinner, shredding after dinner, with an Access bar and ProFlex to supplement. No eating after 8pm. Nothing to drink but water.

6:45pm - eat my Access Bar
7:00pm - start the madness
jumping jacks, ok. squats, ok. It was the kicks that killed me - those ol' shin splits raring their ugly head again.
7:24pm - done. Praise the Lord...not too bad! Shaky, yes - but if that 20 minute workout is going to get rid of the baby belly, then that's 20 minutes I can get behind! :)
7:30pm - downing my first ProFlex shake. VERY sweet - will have to get used to that.

Trying to figure out how to do this while on vacation...I truly want to do this for a solid 30 days and see what my results are.

urgent prayer needed...

PLEASE pray for my bloggy friend, McKMama at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/

Her son Stellan, who was born on the same day as Jora (so he's nearly 5 months old) was admitted to the hospital with an incredibly high heart rate. Things are very very rough...and reading through their updates just brings tears to my eyes. Please pray for their family!

First sentences...

Shira - "OPEN THE DOOR."

Tobin - ??

Micah - "Go outside."

Jora - ??

So apparently, my children are longing to escape. Sweet kids.

I was told I couldn't nurse my baby in public today!

While attending the Tulsa Home and Garden show today (Sat. 3/14) my family was looking forward to attending a cooking demonstration by Kitchen Craft (http://www.cookforlife.com/). We actually own several thousand dollars worth of their product and I was hoping to get some new tips on cooking with their products. When we found their booth, they were at the end of a cooking demo, passing out food on a plate for attendees to sample. I sat in the very back row after removing my 4 month old baby from the stroller with the plan to quietly nurse her and watch the demonstration. BEFORE I EVEN STARTED to feed my baby, a very rude woman associated with Kitchen Craft approached me and immediately demanded that I leave if I was going to feed my baby. I calmly told her that I was going to watch and nurse at the same time and she informed me that it was against health code regulations...keeping in mind, that while she says this - a single plate of food is being passed around with people picking food off of it. My nursing baby nor my breast milk would be any where close to any food or food items. When I refused to leave, and informed her that the state of Oklahoma allows nursing mothers to breastfeed in any public location, she stormed off to get security. (see www.ok.gov/health/organizations for further info) Bonnie J. Polak, Special Events Director for the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa arrived shortly thereafter, offering me a private area in their lounge. While she was incredibly supportive, I replied that I didn't need a private location. However, I did choose to leave and visit her office in order get her business card and to file a formal complaint against the demonstrators of Kitchen Craft. I will also be writing to the president of their company with my extreme anger at being put in a very embarrassing and humiliating situation. The women there were incredibly rude, ignorant of state law, and made a huge scene about NOTHING. I left in tears and quite frankly, a very bad taste about the products they are selling.
